The same for outbound cargo. UNDERSTATED: Census states the containerised flag is optional for exporters and "some filers may omit this information", so the export numerator is incomplete by an unmeasured amount. Treat export rates as a LOWER BOUND and never compare them directly against import rates without saying so.
STATUS: WITHDRAWN · SINCE 1970-01 · RETURNS WHEN THE CONDITION BELOW IS MET
COVERAGE INCOMPLETE. The 2010-2023 backfill is still loading, so the archive holds twelve months for 2024 and 2025 but only a partial 2010. Any comparison across years today weighs one loaded month against twelve — an apparent rise from 38% to 63% on import containerisation is currently indistinguishable from that loading artifact. Lift when every month from 2010-01 to the last complete month is present, verified by a per-year month count, not by row totals. We will not serve data we cannot stand behind, so this page stays up but the numbers do not.
More on the practice: withdrawn data.
